Valerie Camillo, President and CEO of Spectacor Sports and Entertainment, is set to leave the organization, effective July 1, 2023.

Her departure will mark the end of a nearly five-year tenure with the organization.

In November 2022, she was promoted to her current role as President and CEO of Spectacor Sports and Entertainment. During her tenure, Camillo oversaw the Wells Fargo Center’s multimillion-dollar renovations and Comcast Spectacor’s overall development plans for a new sports complex.

“As one of our senior leaders, Valerie has helped successfully drive many of our businesses forward… I have been excited about her work on transforming the Wells Fargo Center in a new, state-of-the-art arena, as well as by the business development opportunities for the Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia Wings, and Maine Mariners,” said Daniel Hilferty in a statement.

Camillo originally joined Comcast Spectacor in 2018 as President of Business Operations for the Philadelphia Flyers and Wells Fargo Center.

“I’d like to thank Valerie for all she has done for Comcast Spectacor, and I wish her the very best in her future endeavors,” added Hilferty.

Prior to joining Comcast Spectacor in 2018, Camillo worked as chief revenue and marketing officer for the MLB’s Washington Nationals for four seasons. Before that, she was a consultant as part of the NBA’s Team Marketing and Business Operations Group.

“As Valerie departs, her leadership team will continue to work in collaboration with me,” said Hilferty.

“I’m energized by the leadership team we have in place on the Hockey side of our company. That, on top of the outstanding work being done… across the organization, I’m excited about our company’s future,” he added.

Camillo’s impending departure from the organization is a continuation of several leadership changes that have taken place over the past several years.

In February 2023, Hilferty was named the new CEO of Comcast Spectacor. Just over a month later, longtime chairman of Comcast Spectacor and governor of the Philadelphia Flyers, Dave Scott, announced his retirement, paving the way for Hilferty to take on both roles

Last month, Keith Jones was named the team’s new President of Hockey Operations. A day later, Daniel Brière was promoted as the team’s full-time general manager, two months after being installed as interim general manager following the firing of Chuck Fletcher.

After Camillo departs in July, Flyers coach John Tortorella will be the most tenured member of the organization’s leadership group, having been hired on June 17, 2022.
