Earlier this week, Adrian Saenz announced he would be stepping down from his duties at the White House as a senior Biden staffer, in a statement to Axios.

He served as Special Assistant to the President and Director of Public Engagement since the administration took office in 2021.

“So much of what the president has talked about (is) all about investing and rebuilding the economy, and that positively impacts Latino communities from where I'm from in South Texas to Latino communities in the Midwest,” Saenz said in a statement to Axios.

Saenz, who also served as President and Deputy Director for Intergovernmental affairs under Obama, said he would be leaving to spend more time with family.

Cedric Richmond, another top White House aide, said Saenz’s “political intuition was invaluable.”

Richmond, a former Louisiana congressman, also planned his departure in April of 2022 to work as a senior advisor for the Democratic National Committee.

In a statement to NBC News, Richmond said he also wanted to spend more time with his family, as well as the opportunity to earn more than the $180,000 salary limit set for White House aides.

Saenz confirmed his last day was Wednesday, Aug. 3.
