AL DÍA News in partnership with Independence Blue Cross is transforming Philadelphia's cuisine one dish at a time. Tuesday was the start of the "Latinos Living Healthy" cooking series with a demonstration from Philly's own Chef Ted Torres. Torres of Coa Catering, was the winner of the 2013 cooking competition "Chefs Wanted" shown on the Food Network.

For his dish, he wanted to make a version of the famous Cuban dish "Ropa Vieja" (stewed beef with vegetables) but using chicken breast instead of flank steak.  The live audience was very interactive by asking questions about the dish as well as the Chef's recommendations on healthier alternatives to fried or fattening foods.  Towards the end of the demonstration, the audience was able to taste a sample of Torres' Ropa Vieja. Needless to say the dish was a overwhelming success.  Stay informed of upcoming chefs  in this cooking series by visiting aldianews.com
