Don Junio, after losing the love of his beloved Morada, as he told his wife, could not conceive the possibility of being happy without another love that he never found. He looked for it wherever he traveled on his daily, weekly, monthly and continuous walks.

In one of those searches, he found Enrique Tuberquia's partner. A happy, outgoing girl in the middle of those jungle landscapes of settlers who sought to have a land in which to organize their future.

There they spent a few months clearing the jungle and growing rice or corn. They were generally rough men determined to be alone and work hard in the fields, having as companions an ax and a rula or machete.

Working was not, for these settlers, a punishment but rather a habit and almost a diversion, when they saw those powerful trees fall, after many blows of the ax from one side and the other to force them to fall in a certain direction.

When harvest time arrived, they packed their products and, on their mule, horse or mare, transported them to the Terrace where they shipped them on trucks or buses that would take
them to the port, to sell them and, finally, have money to have a good time in company of liquor and women they had never seen, but who treated them like loving wives, until they almost ran out of money.

To tear down the jungle again and start crops was his destiny. They did not buy meat because the streams and rivers provided them with fish and turtles that they consumed with cassava or
bananas they grew.

That was the routine life of those settlers, where Don Junio ended up after losing the love of his wife. He was another colonist in those inhospitable lands with an unhealthy tropical climate.

Enrique Tuberquia's partner, Ángela, always passed through his well-arranged house of straw and wood.

She traveled along roads singing rancheras of those that the long-suffering and rude men of the countryside enjoy so much. Those songs full of melancholy and that in their lyrics bring a light of hope or, many times, of despair; songs that make those who have been beaten by life, without studying or, also, due to lack of permanent love, feel alive.

That condition penetrated Don Junio's soul. Therefore, that day when Ángela stopped to chat with him, she took the opportunity to ask him to give her a little of his ability to love all the other men on the sidewalk. She told him that she was waiting for him at her house that night. Enrique would not be there.

Don Junio, overflowing with joy and hoping to enjoy Angela, prepared curd and some bread to bring her a present. Night came and, with a firm but gentle step, it arrived.

Angela - whispered -

He immediately heard Enrique's voice who responded to his call. Don Junio, what are you looking for?

Such a surprise must have been terrible for Don Junio. Therefore, as soon as he arrived, he began his retreat, with the bad luck that one of Enrique's mares was sleeping lying on the floor near the straw house. Don Junio was left riding without wanting to, on that mare without a lasso, without a saddle or how to control her.

It was a sharp blow and abuse that would last several days.

Enrique later asked Don Pedro about his visit that night, receiving an answer that he did not expect: it can't be! Then I'm becoming a sleepwalker, because I don't remember anything of what you tell me; However, I do have a very strong pain in this arm that I don't know what it comes from.

Enrique tells these things and laughs calmly because for him it was not a problem for his partner to please others who needed it so much. At least, that's what he said.
