The incident occurred at John Barry Elementary in West Philadelphia when a six-year-old student brought 11 packs of heroin to school. According to investigators, she showed the contained drug to her classmates. After noticing the disturbance, the teacher asked the student what was in her hands and immediately notified another teacher. 

"We know that one of the packages clearly looks like it was bitten," Philadelphia Police, Lt. John Walker told NBC 10. 

The entire class of 20 students including the six-year-old girl were taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for evaluation. "The only person who we're sure had contact with the product at the point was the young female that brought in in. The young girl did feel a little dizzy." Philadelphia Police Captain, John Przepiorka said. 

Marie Hunter, the mother of the six-year-old girl, and her boyfriend, Christopher Troy-Jenkins White, face charges of endangering the welfare of a child and possession of narcotics. 

Both remain in police custody while the girl and her three siblings are cared for by DHS officials. A search warrant was served at Hunter's home and according to investigators, the conditions inside the house are filthy, officials even found 18 bags of marijuana. Danitra Salley, a parent of one the students told CBS Philly, "I was afraid. My son is just seven-years-old. He shouldn't be exposed to something like that. It just doesn't make sense to me. It should never have been in the home."
