Cesar Chavez is running for U.S. Congress in Arizona. No, not celebrated labor-leader Cesar Chavez who past away decades ago. The ex-Republican formerly known as Scott Fistler.

The Arizona Capitol Times reported that after an unsuccessful run against Democrat Rep. Ed Pastor in Arizona's majority-Latino 7th congressional district, Fistler paid hundreds of dollars to legally changed his name to Cesar Chavez and his party to Democrat. It is unclear if Fistler's once Republican identity changed at all or his policies — his election website doesn't offer opinions, just misleading pictures from Venezuela.

According to his name-change petition, Chavez said that he "experienced many hardships" because of his name, implying that he did not win elections or support because of his name rather than the policies that he stood for (and possibly, based on his recent actions, disrespect towards the Latino community).

According to the Arizona Capitol Times, the Democratic party is reviewing the situation.
