Pope billboards are officially here
Just over three weeks away from the Pope's arrival, Visit Philadelphia has launched two new Francis-inspired billboards.
Both designs are part of With Love, Philadelphia XOXO campaign, as those familiar with Visit Philly's other ads will notice by the design. One bears the message "Great cities attract great leaders," and the other "Sometimes it's good to pontificate."
Last week, Mayor Nutter launched a feel-good initiative called "I'll Be There," asking local residents and businesses to enthusiastically let others know if they're sticking around the last weekend in September. It came after months of a near-apocalyptic news-vibe around the visit's logistical and security measures. Now, with much of the planning tentatively in place, it seems organizers and officials are trying to ease anxieties and pump up the crowd. (Visit Philadelphia even titled the billboards' release "Look toward heaven"!)
“This is an uplifting time for Philadelphia, and we want to celebrate that in our campaign,” said Meryl Levitz, president and CEO of VISIT PHILADELPHIA. “People will be telling their children about Pope Francis’ visit to Philadelphia for years to come; this is an historic event, and it deserves to be showcased.”
The Pope bill boards will go up next Monday, Sept. 7, and display until Oct. 4. Locations are listed below.
