NBCUniversal announced Monday that it would no longer be working with Donald Trump and is cutting ties with the billionaire.

“At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values. Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump,” the network said in a statement.

According to PBS, "the decision effectively cancels the annual airings of the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants, which are co-owned by Trump and NBC. The statement also said Trump won’t appear as the host in the reality show “The Apprentice” this fall."

The Donald clarifies: Not Mexicans necessarily, all Latin American immigrants are potential rapists

After a weekend of controversy that included Univision ending its business relationship with GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump, to critics launching a campaign via Change.org to petition NBC to cancel Miss USA, Miss Universe and Celebrity Apprentice, Trump appeared on CNN's State of the Union Sunday to clarify the derogatory comments he made about Mexican immigrants.

"It's not Mexicans necessarily, they're coming from all over," Trump said

As CNBC.com reported, “He didn't mean Mexicans were particularly prone to rape and criminal activity — he meant to say that all the people crossing the Southern border illegally, be they Mexicans or, presumably, nationals of many of the other countries of Central America who find their way to the U.S. border are potential rapists.”

"I respect what they're doing," Trump told to CNN. "I think it's great. I like Mexico. I love the Mexican people. I do business with the Mexican people, but you have people coming through the border who are from all over. And they're bad. They're really bad.”

As of this morning, the petition launched by Guillermo Castañeda Jr. has been signed by 208,781 supporters.

On June 25 Univision, the biggest Spanish-language broadcaster in the United States, stated it was "ending the company's business relationship with the Miss Universe Organization, which is part-owned by Donald J. Trump, based on his recent, insulting remarks about Mexican immigrants."

A few hours later, Trump announced he would sue Univision “for a tremendous amount of money’” for breach of contract and defamation.

TV anchor and journalist Jorge Ramos sent a handwritten letter asking if Trump would sit with him for an interview, providing his personal cell phone number in the event that Trump "would like to talk first over the phone,” Politico reported.

The billionaire then published a photo of the handwritten letter, with Ramos’ personal number, on his Instagram account, Politico reported. In the post Trump noted that Univision was "begging" him for interviews even after publicly severing business ties with him.
