More than 200 graduates from 15 colleges and universities in Philadelphia were honored on May 8 at the Sixth Annual “Toss Your Caps!” event.

Mayor Michael A. Nutter, Chief Education Officer Dr. Lori Shorr, Congressman Chaka Fattah, and NBC 10 anchor Renee Chenault-Fattah, as well as college presidents from participating Philadelphia colleges and universities celebrated the accomplishments of local graduates with “class photos” on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Philadelphia native singer Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge also performed “We Are Family” for the graduates.

“Toss Your Caps! recognizes Philadelphia’s local college graduates for their hard work, determination and commitment to earning a college degree.  It is a celebration of these young people and their remarkable accomplishments,” Mayor Nutter said.  “And, I know that this milestone will be just the first of many achievements to come. I want to commend our Toss Your Cap! participants and the entire class of 2015 and wish them well on their path to success.”
