Marijuana now available through a vending machine in Colorado.

An automated pot-selling machine made its debut at a private invitation-only event in Avon, Colorado on Saturday, April 12, according to the Cannabist

The machine called ZaZZZ, uses biometrics to verify a customer's age. Its made by a company called American Green and will soon be installed in medical marijuana dispensary, Herbal Elements in Eagle Veil.

The machine is also climate-controlled to keep the product fresh for consumers.

Stephen Shearin, COO of American Green parent Tranzbyte, explains the process of using ZaZZZ.

"I see someone who knows what they want approaching the machine, purchasing and departing all within regulatory guidelines, but without the counter lines," Shearin told the Cannabist.

"Its great for shy folks. You swipe ID and get verified,  select products and pay. Retrieve products and depart using appropriate bagging solution," he added.

Since the machines are located in dispensaries, they will require a driver's license to verify the person making the transaction matches the person on the driver's license.

"I'm a father of a 12-year-old daughter, and I wouldn't want her having access to it, so we paid close attention to that," Shearin said according to USA Today. "If laws change to allow use outside of a licensed store, security on the machines would evolve."
