Tourists have started a trend of baring their naked bodies at Peru's most popular historical sites.

In an effort to stop the exhibitionist photography,  government have increased surveillance at several locations.

Tourists have also posted their naked excursions on blogs and social media.

For example, a bearded man by the name of Amichay Rab, posed naked on the Inca ruins with a bent leg covering his "private parts."

The photo was apart of his blog called "My Naked Trip," which features Rab posing nude across Latin America.

More recently, the 15th-century Inca site, Machu Picchu, experienced a series of streakers.

Footage of two New Zealand visitors, Sydney Timothy and Topp Jared running naked across the Inca citadel emerged last month.

According to the police report, they were arrested and told by authorities to delete the image from their camera.

"They were made aware that it is totally forbidden to take photographs of this magnitude," according to the report.

A bystander who also filmed the event published it online. The video went viral and prompted a response from the Ministry of Culture. They released a statement rejecting the "disrespectful acts committed by visitors to the historical sites."

Peruvian guards at the cultural site are stepping up security to prevent visitors from "stripping down."

In the statement, the ministry asked visitors to "be alert to this kind of attitude that's solely aimed at getting attention."
