Where are the Latina comedians on "Saturday Night Live" this season--or ever?

Felix Sanchez, chairman of the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts, posed the same question in a Washington Post letter to the editor. The show has not hired one Latina cast member since it began in 1975, Sanchez pointed out.

This month, the sketch show promised to include an African American female comedian after pressure from those on and off the set. The current cast of 16 featured players on the show includes eight men and six women, with just two African American male comedians, Jay Pharoah and Kenan Thompson.

"S.N.L." has not hired any Latinos or Latinas for this season, despite the fact that Latinos accounted for 9 percent of their audience at the beginning of this season.

Five Latina comedians to look out for include Patti Vasquez, Marga Gomez, Sara ContrerasAubrey Plaza and Shayla Rivera.

UPDATE: "Saturday Night Live" hired Sasheer Zamata, now the only African American female member of the current cast.
