Talisa García will join the cast of Willow, a Lucasfilm production by Disney. The series will be a sequel to the popular Ron Howard movie and will air on Disney+. Its release date is still to be determined. 

The Chilean-born British actress will play the role of the mother of the character Tony Revolori, according to Deadline. 

Although the role is secondary and the character will likely appear only in one episode, with the role, García becomes the first trans actress cast in a Lucasfilm production. 

"I feel so blessed and honored to be part of the Willow family; this is quite literally the definition of 'a dream come true'. When I was at school I used to drive my teachers crazy, they were always trying to get me to concentrate in class and stop looking out the window daydreaming. It must have been so frustrating for them but there was a reason I was unfocussed. I was in so much pain from growing up in the wrong body that I spent hours living in a fantasy world where I was a princess or, in my more daring flights of fancy, even a queen, in a magical Disney production. I would never have dared to tell anyone of these ideas (...) they seemed so impossible (...) but regardless, I never stopped dreaming. Here I am, all these years later, an actual queen in a magical Lucasfilm & Disney production. That wild fantasy land that I used to disappear into for escape and comfort is now reality... so, from one daydreamer to all the others out there... don't stop! Dreams do come true,”  the actress wrote in a post on Instagram. 

Who is Talisa García?

The actress was born in Chile, but has lived in the United Kingdom almost her whole life. She began her acting career at the Sylvia Young Theater School in London.

In 2003, she graduated with a Master's degree in acting from the Arts Educational School in the same city.

Previously, she's been on the casts for the series The Girlfriend Experience, the BBC thriller Baptiste, and Miracle Workers.

What's Willow?

Willow is a series set decades after Ron Howard's 1988 film. According to Disney, the sequel will maintain the spirit of adventure, humor and heroism of the original film.

The role of the great sorcerer Willow Ufgood will be played by actor Warwick Davis.

American filmmaker of Chinese origin Jon Chu will be the director.
