The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has formally invited 20-year-old actress Rachel Zegler to be one of the presenters at the Oscar awards ceremony on Sunday, March 27.

The invitation came after Zegler commented on social media that she had not been invited to participate in the gala.

“Hopefully some last-minute miracle happens and I get to celebrate our movie in person, but hey, I guess that's the way things are sometimes. Thanks for all the shock and outrage, I'm disappointed too. But it's okay. Very proud of our film,” said the young Latina who plays the character María in the West Side Story directed by Steven Spielberg.

Zagler will also be joined by actress Stephanie Beatriz, who has also been called to participate in the presentation at the 94th edition of the most important Hollywood awards. The Argentine, who currently resides in the United States, was part of Encanto.

In addition to Zegler and Beatriz, other Latinos invited to host the gala include John Leguizamo, Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o and Oscar nominee Rosie Pérez. They will join Lady Gaga, Zoë Kravitz, Anthony Hopkins, Uma Thurman, Lily James, John Travolta, Kevin Costner, Samuel L. Jackson, Mila Kunis, Simu Liu, Rami Malek, Chris Rock, Naomi Scott, Wesley Snipes, Yuh- Jung Youn, Ruth E. Carter, Halle Bailey, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jamie Lee Curtis, Woody Harrelson, Shawn Mendes, Tyler Perry, Tracee Ellis Ross, among others.

The Academy also reported that Sebastián Yatra will perform the song "Dos Oruguitas" from Encanto, which is nominated for Best Original Song at these Oscars. Nearly all nominees in the same category will also be featured. We are talking about: Beyoncé ("Be alive" from King Richard); Billie Eilish and Finneas ("No time to die" from No Time to Die), Reba McEntire ("Somehow you do" from Four Good Days). The last nominee is Van Morrison with the song “Down to joy” for the film Belfast, but his presentation at the gala is not confirmed.

The Oscars ceremony will be hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes. It will be held at Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 27 stating 8:00 pm ET, in a special broadcast on ABC.
