Marvel casts a Latino for 'Ironheart'
The Latino actor and singer Anthony Ramos will join the cast of the new Marvel series 'Ironheart.'
Ironheart is a new project being produced by Marvel for 2023. The fiction series is supported by Disney+ and will star a superheroine. It will feature six episodes in total.
At the end of 2020, Marvel Universe Cinematic (MUC) confirmed that the American actress Dominique Thorne will play the leading role of Riri Williams/Ironheart. Thorne is already well-known in the Marvel universe, which casted her for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, expected to come out on July 8, 2022.
Besides Thorne's future role in this new series, MCU recently announced that the Latino Antony Ramos will join the cast, but his character in Ironheart remains under wraps.
At 31, Ramos has a long film career. It started with his role in Hamilton, the musical directed by Lin Manuel Miranda. This role boosted his professional career as an actor and opened many other doors in the industry. He had roles in A Star Is Born, a film starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper; In Treatment, Godzilla: King of the Monsters and In the Heights, which earned him a nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy-Musical at the Golden Globes. However, Ramos did not win and the prize went to Andrew Garfield for his role in Tick, Tick… boom!
Anthony Ramos is also recognized for his leading role in Transformers: Beasts Awaken, a film that is expected to be released in 2023 after the premier was postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to his career in Hollywood, Ramos also triumphs as a singer. In 2021, he released his second studio album Love and Lies, classified by him as a “R&B” style album. “Échale,” one of the main songs on the album, has more than 1,200,000 plays on Spotify.
Ramos’s artistic talent was recognized by TIME magazine, which highlighted his rising career by including him in its 100 Most Influential People of 2021.
“He is charting his own path but, watching, we are reminded of the genius and magic of John Leguizamo, even Ritchie Valens. The emotional range and acting facility, the wit and sense of humor, the one-in-a-million singing voice come together within a special person whose bounty of gifts is matched with a rock-solid humanity,” wrote the Tony Award-winning actor and musical artist Leslie Odom Junior Odom.
Marvel’s Ironheart
This is the 23rd series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is based on the Marvel Comics superheroine. Although the synopsis is still uncertain, the franchise announced that Chinaka Hodge is working as the head writer; meanwhile Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, and Victoria Alonso are the executive-producers.
