The Mexican-American actor Gil Pérez-Abraham has already taken part in many other film productions, including: Law and Order, Orange is the New Black, The Walking Dead, and The Farewell

In The Batman movie, directed by Matt Reeves, Gil Pérez-Abraham plays the role of Officer Martínez, an agent who is in the first stage of his career at the Gotham Police Department.

"I'm proud of the movie, it's spectacular," he said in an interview with That Hashtag Show.

The trailer of  the movie shows some scenes in which Officer Martínez appears.

"In my family there are many soldiers and for me it was an honor to feel like a good police officer,” he told LMRonline without giving more details about his character in the film.

Pérez-Abraham says that playing the character has been challenging, and he thanks his mentor Freddie Joe Farnsworth for helping.

“I was working with him on a season of The Walking Dead and he taught me a lot about marines. Back then I was a Marine on that show, so I learned the tactics,” he said.

The Latino actor is first generation U.S.-born in his family, and said he felt very comfortable with the cast of the film. He also celebrated the cultural diversity among the actors.

“I wonder… What will my father think when he reads the credits at the end of the film? This is the first time that Gotham looks like Gotham, because Gotham is based on a city like those very big multicultural ones. So having that multiculturalism in the project makes the film very special and is going to inspire a lot of people especially these days,” he added.

The cast of The Batman features actors Robert Pattison (Batman/Bruce Wayne), Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle; Paul Dano as Edward Nashton; Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon of the GCPD; John Turturro as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. GilColson; Jayme Lawson as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; Andy Serkis as Alfred; and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot.

"Two years of stalking the streets as Batman, striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has driven Bruce Wayne into the shadows of Gotham City,"  reads the synopsis for the film, which will premiere worldwide on March 4, 2022. It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
