Itatí Cantoral to debut in new Disney Pixar animated movie
The Mexican actress is preparing for a new great challenge in her acting career. She will debut in the film 'Red,' produced by Disney Pixar.
Itatí Cantoral, 45, is renowned for playing villains in telenovelas. However, throughout her long acting career she's also demonstrated versatility and ability to play other kinds of characters. This was demonstrated this week when she shared information her new projects on the big screen. She will debut in an animated movie Disney Pixar, called Red.
“I am happy to share with you some great news: I will be participating in the next Pixar movie: Red, lending my voice to Ming Lee. It is a dream for me to be able to participate in a project huge as a panda. I hope you enjoy this beautiful story Red, from Disney and Pixar, as much as I do,” said the Mexican actress and singer in a video posted on Instagram.
Red tells the story of a Chinese-Canadian girl named Mei Lee, who lives in Toronto's Chinatown. At 13, the protagonist goes through being loyal and obedient to all the rules imposed by her mother (Ming Lee) and the insecurities of her age. Besides the changes that Mei Lee experiences with her body, every time she gets excited or stressed, she turns into a red panda.

The animated film is directed by Chinese-American director and animator Domee Shi, 31, who won an Oscar for Pixar's best animated short film Bao in 2019. Lindsey Collins is the producer.
Red premiered in Chinese cinemas on Feb. 18. It will air in the United States and in other countries where Disney+ is available on March 11, 2022.
Itatí Cantoral's bio
The actress made her debut in Muchachitas in 1991. Four years later, she played the villain Soraya Montenegro in the television series María la del Barrio, which catapulted her fame in Mexico and the rest of Latin America. Later, she got roles in movies such as Bonita, Amar, Cansada de besar sapos, No manches Frida, etc.
