The Colombian singer Carlos Vives, who reappeared last week with a tribute music video to Shakira called "Currambera," will return to the stage in several cities in the United States and Canada at the end of 2022.

Initially, his tour called “Después de todo Vives” was scheduled for the end of 2021. But due to the expansion of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, it was postponed to “ensure the well-being and health of the entire community,” according to the production company Loud and Live, which organized the tour.

Vives, winner of two Grammy Awards and 14 Latin Grammy Awards, did not stayed quiet during the pandemic.

In June 2021, he performed a virtual concert featuring the prestigious Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl.

“It is definitely strange to do a concert without an audience, but on the other hand, it was great to feel the power and affection of the orchestra and what it represents,” the Colombian legend commented after his performance.

Last December, he kicked off his tour with two concerts in Miami and Orlando, where he sold out all the tickets. Before the event scheduled for Jan. 13 in Seattle, his team decided to postpone all the shows. Loud and Live announced that the 13 pending concerts will be rescheduled between the months of September and October.

“It is a beautiful challenge. Knowing that our fans are waiting for us is an incredible emotion," Vives told EFE.

In addition to the successes of Cumbiana (released in 2020), which explores the origins of cumbia, Vives incorporated collaborations with his "new family" during the pandemic (Nacho, Lucy and Ricky Martin) into his shows, as well as songs from Masters en Parranda, a new album released in Colombia in January.

The artist said that the new tour is "to understand everything that is happening to us, what people feel at this time" of the pandemic. Also, he claims to feel "refreshed" with the young people included in his upcoming shows.

Vives is one of the most recognized artists in Colombia and a Latin music star. He sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, and is considered a pioneer of the new Colombian and Latin American sound. His countless hits include iconic songs such as "La Gota Fría," "Déjame entrar," and "La Bicicleta" — performed alongside Shakira.
