Lizzo and Cardi B excitedly premiered "Rumors," a collab they released on Aug. 13.

However, Lizzo has also revealed how she was bombarded by hate mesages following the release of the music video.

"On days I feel like I should be the happiest... I feel so depressed. It hurts me so much," she said in her Instagram stories.

"People say shit about me that doesn't even make sense. It's fatphobic, racist and hurtful. If you don't like my music, great. If you don't like 'Rumors' the song, great. But a lot of people don't like me because of the way I look..."

The singer later did a "live stream" on Instagram speaking directly about the mesages that have come her way with the intention of "body shaming," and she and couldn't help but break down in tears.

"What I will not accept is you guys doing this to Black women over and over and over and over again, especially us big Black girls. When we don't fit in the box you want to put us in, you just unleash hate on us. It's not okay. I'm doing this shit for the big Black women of the future who just want to live their lives without being scrutinized or put in boxes. I'm never going to do what everyone wants me to do, so get used to it," said Lizzo.

After her emotional vent in the face of the hateful comments, the singer pulled herself together to finish her message to her followers.

"I'm only going to focus on positive comments from here on out. I don't have time for your negativity, your internalized self-loathing that you project onto me with your racism and your fat phobia. I don't have time for that. Anyway, I'm going to keep being me. I'm going to keep being a bad bitch," the artist said.

Artists like Missy Elliot and Cardi B herself later used their social media to respond and criticize the hateful messages that many people sent to Lizzo and show their support for the singer.
