Karol G surpasses Selena Quintanilla on the Billboard Latin Chart
Karol G is the second woman to hold Billboard's #1 and #2.
Karol G equaled the record that Selena Quintanilla held since 1995 on the Billboard Latin chart with her songs 'Mamiii' at #1 and Provenza at #2 on the chart.
This way, the singer from Antioquia becomes the second woman to have #1 and #2 on the Billboard chart.
Until now, in Billboard's Latin song count, the late Selena Quintanilla held the title of the Latina to have songs in the top two positions of the list, with 'Tú solo tú' and 'I Could Fall in Love'.
This happened in 1995 and it took 27 years for another Latina to achieve it. And it was the Colombian Karol G, thus achieving another great triumph.

"Provenza" has also sold 2,100 downloads and becomes her fifth number 1 in Latin digital song sales. It also jumps to number 18 in Latin Airplay with 5.3 million listeners.
Produced by Karol G's longtime collaborator Ovy on the Drums, "Provenza" is a fusion of sounds with tropical and rhythmic elements sprinkled with Afro-dance beats that pays homage to a neighborhood in her native Medellin.
Bad Bunny (for two weeks) and The Black Eyed Peas (five weeks) are other artists who reached #1 and #2 simultaneously on Hot Latin Songs, both in 2020.
Karol G's recognitions
Recently, the Colombian singer performed at the Lollapalooza Festival in the United States, where she was acclaimed.
Also, last March she was recognized at the 'Women in Music' gala organized by Billboard magazine, which recognized her for her contribution to the history of music.
Karol G received the "Rule Breaker" award, which is given to artists who "defy expectations with their music". This award has already been received by SZA, Alessia Cara, Kehlani and Demi Lovato, among others.
