Sting Postpones Concerts in the U.S. and Cancels Award Ceremony Appearance Due to Health Issues
Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, known artistically as Sting, has recently postponed several concerts in the United States and canceled his participation in an award ceremony due to health concerns. The 73-year-old British musician was set to kick off his "Sting 3.0" tour with performances in Phoenix, Arizona, and Wheatland, California, on January 24 and 26, 2025, respectively. However, following medical advice, these concerts have been rescheduled for June 1 and May 28, 2025.
Additionally, Sting has canceled his attendance at the Bass Magazine Awards, where he was to be honored with a lifetime achievement award on January 25. His performance at the 20th anniversary event for Cherrytree Music Company, originally scheduled for January 25 in Los Angeles, has also been postponed to May 29.
In an official statement shared on his Instagram account, Sting’s team expressed: "Following his doctor's advice due to illness, Sting deeply regrets canceling his appearance at the Bass Magazine Awards and postponing his concerts in Phoenix and Wheatland, as well as his performance at the 20th anniversary of Cherrytree Music Company." Fans are advised to keep their tickets, as they will remain valid for the rescheduled dates.
Sting’s health has raised concerns on previous occasions. In 2019, the artist canceled several concerts in Europe due to a "viral throat infection," as reported on his official website at the time. Despite these setbacks, Sting has maintained a reputation for professionalism and dedication to his fans, working to reschedule affected performances and apologizing for any inconvenience caused.
Throughout his career, Sting has been recognized not only for his musical talent but also for his commitment to a healthy lifestyle. He has practiced yoga for more than three decades and follows a macrobiotic diet—factors that he says have significantly contributed to his overall well-being and performance on stage. In an interview, Sting mentioned that these practices have given him "two extra decades of career."
Sting’s next concert is scheduled for February 8, 2025, at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he will share the stage with Billy Joel. He is then set to begin the Latin American leg of his "Sting 3.0" tour with performances in Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and Peru, marking his return to Lima after 14 years.
Sting’s fans eagerly await his recovery and return to the stage, confident that his dedication to a healthy lifestyle will help him overcome this challenge and continue delivering memorable performances around the world.
