The Red Bull Batalla app is available to participate in the search for the next competitors throughout the month of April in what will be another phase of expansion of the competition and celebration of its fifteenth anniversary.

They will be looking for the best MCs in Spanish for the national finals rounds also in the United States, in addition to Latin American countries from which representatives have already participated.

Anyone with a cell phone can download the application and, following the video with instructions, submit a single video that will be evaluated by a jury for the international competition.

Those selected will have the opportunity to participate in regional and virtual competitions that will be broadcasted during the summer.

In this way, the usual phases will be completed until the end of the year when the best MCs will reach the international final where one of them will be crowned.

Looking for the next great freestyler

More adult readers may find it a little harder to believe but one of the thousand ways to enter the digital pantheons of platforms like YouTube is to win one of the Red Bull Batalla belts.

Spanish rapper Bnet made it in 2019 and returned as a raw rap legend to his country's league or Mexico's Rapder hopes to see his music career take off after snatching the title from the favorites last year.

All those instants have been both recreated in video selections or reactions by all the new followers of this competition and sport that freestyle has become for many young people.

Teenage glances have studied those verses and those rhythms dreaming of that stage and carrying their backpacks traveling across the country.

Until very recently it was a closed and underground circuit of squares conquered by teenagers and a few festivals. Now there is an empire based on views, waiting for the big stages to return, based basically on two major leagues, the Urban Roosters FMS and Red Bull Batalla.

Therefore freestyle has become the fusion of a series of disciplines and techniques from the hip-hop world that focus on improvisation but include both rhythm and pure game tactics that, channeled through a competition model based on a scoring format for each specific rhyme, has given rise to a sporting and artistic business model that aspires to grow while preserving the values of hip-hop culture.

After a hard decade for the competitors, in which the rules had yet to be defined and in which they had to combine it all with their own jobs, it is not surprising that now that the MCs have become professionalized, many young people aspire to be part of this new cycle.
