Disney has just scored its biggest music hit in 26 years. The song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” which is part of the soundtrack to the movie Encanto, has entered at the fourth spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
At the beginning of 2022, the soundtrack of the animated movie Encanto has become overwhelmingly famous. The songs that accompany the movie inspired in Colombia began to climb the charts, trended on social media, and went viral on platforms like TikTok.
Within the soundtrack, "We Don't Talk About Bruno", a song produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda, reached a position that until now, only "Can You Feel the Love Tonight", by Elton John for the The Lion King in August 1994, and "Colors of the Wind", by Vanessa Williams, a song that was part of the movie Pocahontas, in August 1995, had achieved.
The song has surpassed the now iconic "Let It Go," from the movie Frozen, which reached No. 5 on the charts in April 2014 and won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
Among Disney's biggest musical hits, "We Don't Talk About Bruno" ranks behind "A Whole New World," the soundtrack to the film Aladdin, which reached No. 1 in March 1993.
Not content with that, the Encanto soundtrack album dethroned Adele's latest album this week, and was the No. 1 best-selling album in the United States.
Encanto is to date, one of the biggest animated blockbusters of the pandemic era. It has grossed $93.1 million in the United States and $222.6 million worldwide.
