Director Marc Foster invited Rita Wilson to write a song for the new film A Man Called Otto starring her husband, the renowned and multi-award winning actor Tom Hanks. The song reflects the love between the two main characters of the film.

“He was familiar with my music and felt that I should also sing the song. I was very humbled and grateful for the opportunity but also made him promise to be honest with me if he didn’t want to use the song," Rita Wilson said in a statement.

The English-language ballad "Til You're Home" was co-written by Rita and GRAMMY/Golden Globe Award-nominated songwriter/producer David Hodges and co-produced by Rita and GRAMMY-winner Matt Rollings.

To perform the song for the film, Wilson invited Colombian singer and composer Sebastián Yatra.

“There are two LatinX characters in the film — I wanted to find a way to bring them into the song.  I envisioned it as a duet…  I have loved Sebastián Yatra’s voice since hearing him in ‘Encanto’ and he felt like the perfect person to do it.  We were incredibly lucky he said ‘yes’ and all the planets aligned," Wilson added.

Yatra, meanwhile, said he felt extremely honored with the collaboration.

“The story behind the film is moving and moving and it inspired me to convey that emotion in this song. Overall this project has been very inspiring and I am proud to be a part of it,” he said.

The song is inspired by the script written by David Magee.

“This is a movie about love, the depths of love and how love continues even after a person leaves this earth,” explained the singer and producer.

The video clip for "Til You're Home" was recently released on YouTube and is getting extremely positive feedback. The video combines footage of the duo in studio sessions with clips from Hanks' film.

Based on the #1 New York Times bestseller A Man Called OveA Man Called Otto tells the story of Otto Anderson (Tom Hanks), a grump who no longer sees purpose in his life following the loss of his wife. Otto is ready to end it all, but his plans are interrupted when a lively young family moves in next door, and he meets his match in quick-witted Marisol. She challenges him to see life differently, leading to an unlikely friendship that turns his world around.

The film will open in select Los Angeles and New York theaters on Dec. 25, and nationwide on Jan. 13, 2023.
