Corona, the official beer of Major League Baseball for the 2023 season, Panamanian singer Sech teamed up to create a Spanish version of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" that debuted on MLB Opening Day on March 30, 2023, playing during the seventh inning of games that day.

"Take Me Out to the Ball Game" also finally gets a new remix meant to celebrate the Latino influence in baseball — from the players and fans to the music and the beer in the stands.

Sech noted:

As a kid growing up in Panama, I was surrounded by a love and deep respect for the game from a young age.

The Latino influence on baseball

As the official beer of MLB, Corona said it teamed up with Sech, a Latin Grammy nominee and baseball super fan, to offer a fun and fresh new perspective on a tradition nearly as old as the sport itself.

Sech's love for the game had already led him to references baseball in past songs.

Inspired by his love of the game, the Panamanian named his third studio album 42 as a tribute to Jackie Robinson, the first African-American to play Major League Baseball, and Mariano Rivera, Yankee legend and Panamanian pitcher, who was the last player to wear the number before it was retired across the league in honor of Robinson.

“Being able to work with an iconic brand like Corona and add my creativity to a cherished seventh inning tradition is a truly special experience. I am so proud to have made something that represents my culture and that of so many of the players on the field,” said Sech.

Beyond the baseball diamond

Also celebrating its Mexican roots, Corona highlighted how the Latino influence plays a vital role in many aspects of the game.

“Sech’s remix is a vibrant new anthem for the game, and we’re proud to celebrate the sport of béisbol like never before. As the Official Cerveza of MLB, Corona wanted to extend a refreshing new perspective to one of the most beloved parts of the game and celebrate not only our own heritage, but that of so many people on the diamond and in the stands,” said Alex Schultz, vice president of brand marketing at Corona

Fans can listen to the new song on Sech's Spotify if they missed it on Opening Day 2023.
