The Biden-Harris era is about to begin in the U.S. after a few weeks of political turmoil following the attempted coup at the Capitol. The inaugural celebration will take place on Jan. 20, and the Presidential Inaugural Committee has announced that the ceremony is meant to celebrate the country's diversity.

With the participation of famous artists such as Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Eva Longoria, Foo Fighters and Demi Lovato, the organization seeks to have a line-up that represents the cultural plurality that is part of the country and contributes to its construction.

Last Wednesday, Jan. 13, it was confirmed that Gaga will sing the U.S. national anthem and Lopez will also perform a musical number. The news generated many comments in social media, among them, model Chrissy Teigen pondered the possibility that Lopez would sing the anthem in Spanish.

The 'Celebrating America' ceremony, besides the musical performances, will feature the participation of important people as part of the event. Historical activist and unionist Dolores Huerta, Spanish chef Jose Andres with his non-profit organization World Central Kitchen (WCK), actresses Kerry Washington and Eva Longoria, and former basketball player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, will present different segments of the performance.

In addition, songwriter and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda will participate by reciting a classical piece during the program.

The event will air live on TV — ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN — and on the Inaugural Committee's YouTube account. Although the ceremony will only be semi-virtual, following the violence on Capitol Hill, Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has asked citizens not to go to the National Mall as a precaution.
