This episode of Cuéntame features the story of Temple University Medical Student, Juan Cerezo, and his journey to become a future doctor. 

Cerezo was born in Cali, Colombia and lived there until he was 7 years old. His family moved to Cliffside Park in New Jersey and he recalls having difficulty adapting to the English language. Cerezo never considered a college degree until he visited Rutgers University and instantly fell in love with the school. After pursuing his degree from the university’s school of science, he was advised to continue into medical school. Finding the right mentorship and with encouragement, he was admitted into 8 different medical schools. Listen as he recounts how he chose Philadelphia to continue his medical studies.
