Focusing on women's heart health at the American Heart Association's "Latina Luncheon"
With heart disease being the number one killer of Latina women in the country, the American Heart Association, as part of their "Go Red Por Tu Corazón" campaign, held the 2017 "Latina Luncheon" at Taller Puertorriqueño this past weekend. Hundreds of people throughout the community came to learn more about the disease that develops more than 10 years earlier in Latinas than any other ethnic background.
Several organizations such as the Einstein Healthcare Network and Main Line Health informed people on the ways to battle the disease as well as offering health screenings for blood pressure and blood sugars. The event also included discussions with people who had first hand experiences with heart health as well as a question and answer session with doctors from the Einstein Health Network in front of a live audience.
