The citizens of Portland are in shock. On Friday, two men were fatally stabbed by an alleged white supremacist while intervening to stop a racist attack on a Muslim teenager on a commuter train, making it one of th worst anti-freedom incidents in Oregon. 

But instead of addressing the deaths, President Donald Trump, freshly arrived from his first official trip abroad, dedicated his traditional flow of Sunday tweets to rally behind his proposed tax cuts and a House GOP-backed health care bill. Not a word for the two men killed for fighting racism in Portland. Not a word either for the deadly rampages in Jackson, Mississippi, where eight more people were killed in a shooting incident, including a police officer.

"I suggest that we add more dollars to Healthcare and make it the best anywhere," Trump tweeted around 8 p.m., contradicting the proposed policy's deep cuts to Medicaid. "ObamaCare is dead - the Republicans will do much better!"

Perplexed, former CBS anchor Dan Rather called on Trump to address the Portland attack in an open letter Sunday afternoon, posted on Facebook.

"Their names were Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche and Ricky John Best. One was a recent college graduate. The other was an army veteran and father of four. I wish we would hear you say these names, or even just tweet them," as reported in The Guardian.

"They were brave Americans who died at the hands of someone who, when all the facts are collected, we may have every right to call a terrorist."

While in Portland a “free-speech rally” was set, But Trump just added a new Tweet to criticise the media:

"The Fake News Media works hard at disparaging & demeaning my use of social media because they don't want America to hear the real story," Trump tweeted.
