The candidates running in the primary’s today will be their party’s lead for the elections in the fall. The elections are for city officials such as District attorney, City Controller, and Judges.

Following the indictment of Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams, the most notable question of the DA is who will be his replacement as the democrat’s pick for district attorney, the city’s chief prosecutor.

With eight candidates running and seven on the democratic side, the crowded - and close - race is one that the city hasn’t seen for almost seen for quite some time, as for District Attorney Lynne Abraham served her term for almost 20 years.

The second most notable race is that for City Controller. Current City Controller Alan Butkovitz is currently facing a strong opponent in Rebecca Rhynhart, after serving in the position for over seven years. The city’s lead auditor, the winner will be in charge of assessing how the city’s funds are spent.

Pennsylvania Supreme Court judges are also on the ballot all the way down to the Common Pleas and Municipal courts.

Today, the city will decide who will be on the ballot in November, and the direction our city takes in the coming years.
Polls are open until 8 p.m. You can find your polling place here.
