It hasn't  been an easy week for Donald Trump. The US President found himself struggling at the Congress to achieve his demand for funding his border wall, as well as for support among lawmakers to  his legislative goals on health care and tax reform. Congress needs to pass a spending bill by Friday night to keep the government running—and if the GOP tries to repeal Obamacare first, Democrats might force a shutdown.

After squandering Obamacare's unpopularity on a Republican alternative called the American Health Care Act, President Trump is facing fresh political challenges:  the voters like it even less. 

The evolving Republican bill is hampered by sharply low ratings, while appreciation for the troubled Affordable Care Act is on the rise.

That points to trouble ahead if Trump and Republicans on Capitol Hill can't reset the health care debate as they head toward pushing through reform legislation on a party-line vote, as the Democrats did before them.

At least 18 House Republicans oppose the latest version of the bill and leaders can lose no more than 22 to win passage if all members vote.

The House Democratic leader, Nancy Pelosi of California, said Mr. Trump was “really making fools of the members of Congress of his own party” by asking them to support a health bill that is unpopular with the public.

“If they vote on it, the minute they cast that vote, they put doo-doo on their shoe,” she said, as reported in The New York Times.
