Philly will host first-ever bike share conference
Philadelphia will host the first ever Better Bike Share Conference this June. The conference is a collaboration between the city, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, the National Association of City Transportation Officials, and PeopleForBikes.
More than 100 attendees are expected at the event, where experts from across the country will share their knowledge of best practices and conduct workshops about the importance of reaching underserved communities.
The conference will also demonstrate ways that leaders of Philadelphia’s Indego bike share program work to integrate fairness into all parts of the program including; station siting, payment and pricing options.
“The City of Philadelphia is committed to ensuring equitable access to our Indego bike share system and all modes of transportation,” Clarena Tolson, Philadelphia's deputy managing director for transportation and infrastructure said in a press release. “Bike share has the potential to transform mobility, improve health outcomes and increase access to opportunity. It can only reach its full potential if it reaches people of all demographics and incomes.”
Registration for the Better Bike Share Conference is now open. Early bird registration is available through June 1, 2016.
