Diversity expo to accompany this year's Walk Against Hate
Along with their annual Walk Against Hate, the Anti-Defamation League will hold an expo highlighting diversity.
In addition to local entertainers such as Yazz the Greatest and Unidos da Filadelfia Drummers, the walk will also include a diversity expo. Participants at the expo will include the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia, ASPIRA Inc. of Pennsylvania, Congreso, the Asian American Film Festival and many others.
“We are thrilled to celebrate diversity and inclusion at this year’s Walk Against Hate,” Brandon Morrison, General Chair of the 2016 Walk Against Hate said in a press release. “Philadelphia is a melting pot of diversity, and this Walk truly celebrates the differences that make each and every one of us unique.”
Mayor Jim Kenney will also be on hand to begin the official start of the walk.
This year the walk will be held on Sunday, May 15 from 9 until 11:30 a.m. at the Marine Parade Grounds at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
“By blending the Walk with a variety of performances and the incorporation of the Diversity Expo, we hope to create an environment where everyone feels celebrated,” Barbara Shaab, Director of Development at the Anti-Defamation League said. “The goal of this walk is to express and support all of our differences in a positive and celebratory atmosphere.”
