PHILADELPHIA — Now in its 15th year, AL DÍA’s Philadelphia Diversity Career Fair has received the support of the city’s administration.

Mayor Jim Kenney will open the fair by giving opening remarks on April 27.

“I’m honored to speak at the 15th Annual Diversity Career Fair,” Kenney said. “This fair represents a great opportunity for both public and private industry to discover the level of talent we have in the city, as well as show that they value and foster diverse workplaces.”

AL DÍA started the fair with the intent to help the Latino community connect with employers. However, as the event has evolved over the years, it has been opened to a broader diverse community in Philadelphia.

“I consider AL DÍA to be a partner in helping the City of Philadelphia realize our diversity goals, particularly as we work to ensure that our government workforce is diverse and representative of our city as a whole,” Kenney added.

The Philadelphia Diversity Career Fair will bring over 30 of the region’s top employers to the Pennsylvania Convention Center for an afternoon of informational presentations and professional development workshops. The event will feature a CEO panel made up of top business executives.

“We continue to do it every year because there is a need to not only connect career seekers with the companies that are hiring but to also provide resources for those career seekers,” Rachel Mancini, events manager, said. “Things like resume reviews and headshots might be hard for the normal job seeker to get on their own.”

Career seekers of all experience levels are invited to participate. Last year, the event saw nearly 300 attendees participate. Around 25 percent self-reported as bilingual.

“Throughout the year, we meet many different highly talented individuals and companies seeking those individuals,” Mancini said. “This event gives us a chance to bring those people together. It’s also an opportunity for employers to look outside of the usual stream of applicants they might receive.”
