Millennial foundation to feed 200 families in-need this Thanksgiving
The Thomas & Woods Foundation will host its first annual “Feeding of Families” charity event on Thanksgiving Day this year.
More than 200 Philadelphia in-need families will receive free seasonal meals, provided by Boston Market’s catering division and other sponsors. The feast will take place at the 1199C Hospital and Health Care Union Headquarters, 1319 Locust Street.
Thomas and Woods is a young non-profit organization, founded earlier this year by millennial activists Isaiah Thomas and Chris Woods. The organization aims to “improve health and wellness amongst at-risk young people in urban settings by providing the services, programs, equipment and apparel they need to participate in athletics and gain the invaluable life lessons they can provide.”
“Feeding the Families” is sponsored by Independence Blue Cross, Tryko and No Hands Left Out. Additional support for the charity event will be provided by Unity in the Community, 1199C, District Council 47, the Office of City Controller Alan Butkovitz and Marvin's Education Services, LLC.
