The food truck industry is growing in Philadelphia, and will continue with the help of a local councilman.

Councilman Mark Squilla is pushing to formalize the city’s regulations on food trucks.

Last week, Squilla introduced two bills that would update zoning and permitting regulations. The bills would give a definition to “mobile food vendors” (they didn’t have a separate category before), and specify where they can sell their goods like private property (with permission), and parking lots.

Squilla is also hoping to create more legislation make more Center City streets available for food trucks since a lot of streets are currently prohibited.
