Ahead of what’s expected to be one of the more important Presidential elections in recent memory in 2024, Vice President Kamala Harris will be going on a month-long tour to speak with important Black and Latino voting groups with hopes of gaining key Democratic supporters.

In a statement, a Biden adviser explained:

“This travel reflects hitting on some of the most important issues Americans care about right now, and hitting some of the most important constituencies to the Biden-Harris coalition, from young people to Latinos. Having the vice president at these high-profile events early on in the cycle is a sign of her galvanizing power and will help us mobilize these groups next year.”

The VP’s first stop is this Sunday where she will speak at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition’s yearly convention. It is an organization founded by Rev. Jesse Jackson. Harris will also visit Indianapolis next week to speak at Delta Sigma Theta’s conference.

A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, she will emphasize the importance of historically Black sororities. She will also attend the Latino advocacy group Unidos US’ conference and Everytown for Gun Safety in Chicago,

“From visits to Florida and Massachusetts to Illinois and Indiana, the vice president will continue her leadership while ensuring communities and constituencies not only have their voices heard but that they have a seat at the table in the Biden-Harris administration,” a White House statement said.

Other stops include at the NAACP in Boston where it is “one of the few places” where Americans can engage with the country’s most influential voices, said NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson.

“I am confident that Vice President Harris’ presence at convention will further motivate our members and supporters’ continued fight for racial justice across all 50 states,” Johnson said in a statement. “We look forward to hearing from the Vice President on how the administration is enacting its commitment to addressing the issues that are top-of-mind for Black America.”

Harris will also be visiting the Women’s Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Orlando. She recently visited the Stonewall bar in New York to honor Pride Month, among other stops focused on gun safety and climate change.

Her tour comes as the Republican presidential nominating fight begins to heat up with a major Iowa Republican Party dinner later this month and the traditional campaign blitz around the Iowa State Fair next month.
