Mayra Bergman recently joined Exelon as its new vice president of communications and marketing.

The new role will see Bergman lead a team of other communications and marketing professionals supporting three brands — Pepco, Atlantic City Electric, and Delmarva Power — that are delivering essential energy to customers across the Mid-Atlantic region.

She joins Exelon after three years as vice president of communications for PECO in Philadephia, a role she had held since February 2020.

“I’m thrilled to be able to bring my experiences at PECO and expertise in Marketing and Communications to Pepco Holdings and its family of local energy providers in this new role,” Bergman told AL DÍA.

Bergman is a seasoned communications professional with more than two decades of experience in the industry.

Prior roles for the Latina executive include leading enterprise communications for Lockheed Martin, and other communications leadership positions at Campbell Soup Company, GE Energy, Aga Foodservice Equipment, and Ford Motor Company.

However, when it comes to her experience over the past three years with PECO, she eloquently describes it as “nothing short of remarkable.”

“My career has afforded me the opportunity to work for a number of companies, but PECO will always stand out as an organization that is truly embedded in the communities that it serves,” Bergman noted.

“During my time here, I was fortunate to work alongside experienced leaders who live the values of diversity, equity and inclusion every day,” she added.

As an executive leader for Pennsylvania’s largest energy company, it was also critical to keep the lights on and the gas running for the more than 1.6 million electric customers and 532,000 natural gas customers.

As a result, being with PECO has helped inspire Bergman to continue to do her part to see those communities thrive.

If there is one thing in particular that Bergman is most looking forward to as she settles into her new role, it’s learning more about the 6,000-plus workforce that contributes toward serving the company’s more than 2.1 million customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

While her role will be different, Bergman is adamant that her commitment to supporting the Latino community will remain unchanged.

Throughout her career, she has shown a willingness and desire to champion the efforts of the Latino community

“Whether that means mentoring the next generation of leaders, volunteering with organizations that support Latinx communities, or advocating for policies and practices that support us,” she said.

Bergman is ready to do it all.
