At a time when the country's diversity is becoming more evident than ever, Pennsylvania will bear witness to one of the most important initiatives to understand the growth and needs of the Latino community.

In this state alone, the Hispanic population has doubled in the past 20 years, reaching nearly one million residents whose needs and opportunities should be addressed as soon as possible.

That is why the Pennsylvania Latino Convention (PLC) has decided to join the efforts of several previous events (such as the PA Latina Women Symposium, the Lancaster Adelante Education Forum and the PA Summit on Latino Mental Health) to debate, understand, and address the data product of several investigations on the reality that the state's Latino community, a population that is experiencing the greatest growth but "continues lagging in all aspects of progress in our society.”

As the platform explains on its website, "the Pennsylvania Latino Convention is created to serve as the annual gathering to ignite positive change in local communities across the state while ensuring that key stakeholders are accessible, accountable, and responsive to the needs of the Latino community."

The program also seeks to address the reality of so many Puerto Ricans who have relocated to the state after the devastation of Hurricane Maria, giving them the opportunity to discuss the challenges of facing a new demographic reality in Pennsylvania.
