Just over a month after appointing its first Latino CEO, Sorenson Communications has appointed another prominent Hispanic executive leader.

Ivonne Valdes has been named the company’s new chief product officer and executive vice president of business development.

She brings with her nearly three decades of experience that spans international sales, cybersecurity oversight, go-to-market strategies, and also includes a continual focus on enhancing the customer experience.

Jorge Rodriguez, CEO of Sorenson Communications, praised Valdes as “a transformative business leader, with a proven track record of advancing strategic product and business initiatives.”

“Ivonne’s vision supports our efforts to connect people through accessible and inclusive communication as we continue to expand internationally. We welcome her to our executive team,” Rodriguez added.

Prior to joining Sorenson, Valdes was the global senior vice president of accounts for Schneider Electric. In the role, she oversaw strategic sales and customer experience for the Global Data Center Segment and synced business models across multiple business units.

Under her leadership, the company saw double-digit growth as she managed more than $1 billion in annual revenue globally.

Some of her other roles include various vice presidential roles and divisions at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, as well as senior sales leadership positions at Oracle Corporation and Sun Microsystems Incorporated. She began her professional career in the sales department at AT&T.

Valdes noted being both honored and excited to begin her newest role and go on her latest journey with Sorenson.

“I am honored to join a company that aims to change the world, one conversation at a time — and to be part of the transformation,” said Valdes. “I’m excited to support the development of next-generation technology and services that give new and existing communities advanced options for communication.”

Throughout her career, Valdes has been honored with a number of awards, including the 2020 Silicon Valley Women of Influence Award, the 2020 HITEC Hall of Fame, and the Infrastructure Masons 2019 Global Diversity and Inclusion Champion award.

She is also chairwoman of the HITEC Foundation, and serves as an advisory board member and strategic advisory council for Kloudspot and Virtual Power Systems, respectively.

Valdes is a graduate of Caldwell University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in psychology before obtaining her MBA from the University of Phoenix. She also holds a CERT Certification in cybersecurity oversight from Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute.

Sorenson Communications is the leading provider of American Sign Language interpreting and phone captioning services, and operates more than 100 interpreting centers in North America.
