Michael Newmuis joins FS Investments as its first-ever Head of Impact
Newmuis had spent the last 8 years with Visit Philly, and will now lead philanthropic and civic engagement efforts with FS Investments.
It was announced earlier this week that Michael Newmuis has been hired as the new Head of Impact for FS Investments.
The first person to be named to the role, Newmuis will lead the charge in the asset management firm’s philanthropic and civic engagement efforts, building upon its unwavering commitment to its clients, colleagues, and surrounding communities.
“Michael is a dedicated civic contributor and emerging leader in the Philadelphia community, and we feel very fortunate to having him joining FS Investments,” Michael Forman, chairman and CEO of FS Investments, said in a press release.
Newmuis joins FS Investments after serving 8 years in a variety of different roles with Visit Philadelphia, most recently serving as Chief External Affairs Officer. His other roles were Chief of Staff, and Director of Stakeholder Engagement & Community Affairs.
“I am thrilled to join FS Investments and applaud the firm for its long-standing commitment to corporate responsibility,” said Newmuis in a statement.
“I look forward to leveraging my experience to enhance the firm’s industry and community impact,” he added.
Newmuis also held previous roles as Director of Finance and Operations at Transport Marine Surveyors, Inc., as well as multiple roles with Independence Blue Cross.

For the latter event, FS Investments sponsors and helps raise scholarship funds for deserving Philadelphia-area students who otherwise would not be able to attend college.
“Under Michael Forman’s leadership, our firm has long been committed to providing industry leadership, engaging civically and supporting our local communities. With Michael Newmuis joining our team, we will broaden and deepen our impact through industry and local efforts.”

Newmuis is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in cognitive science with a concentration in computation & cognition.
