AL DÍA 40 Under Forty Honoree: Lisa Parladé
At the 40 Under Forty event, Lisa Parladé will be one of the 40 honorees.
The inaugural AL DÍA 40 Under Forty event will be a showcase of the most diverse and impactful young professionals in various fields of work across the Philadelphia region.
At the virtual event, taking place August 20, 2020, Lisa Parladé, 32, will be one of the 40 honorees. She is the Senior Academic Advisor at Temple University.
As part of the lead-up to the event, AL DÍA asked each of the 40 honorees the same three questions and collected their responses.
Here are Lisa Parladé’s responses:
The doctoral process, and juggling that with my work and personal selves. It continues to be a journey of highs and lows, points where I’m wracked by imposter syndrome, fatigue, shifts in motivation, all while learning the process as I go along a la the metaphor of “trying to fly while building the aircraft.” I remember starting the journey and having no idea what “comps” were and being flummoxed by other jargon used that was foreign to me!
Whenever I feel down on myself, I remember that I am exactly where I wished and hoped I would be when I was in my early-to-mid twenties. I felt so lost then! To others feeling lost (and a needed reminder to myself at times): make and remember your goals, put in work, allow yourself patience and grace, and be open to the unexpected; opportunities come in many forms.
