The inaugural AL DÍA 40 Under Forty event will be a showcase of the most diverse and impactful young professionals in various fields of work across the Philadelphia region.

At the virtual event, taking place August 20, 2020, Chad Workman, 30, will be one of the 40 honorees. He is the Senior Manager of International Tax at Global Tax Management

As part of the lead-up to the event, AL DÍA asked each of the 40 honorees the same three questions and collected their responses.

Here are Chad Workman’s responses:

What is the biggest challenge in your professional journey?

Weighing how to spend my time has been my biggest professional challenge. For me, giving back to the community has been an equal priority as my own career. I have taught in the business department at Rosemont College, founded 1,500+ people events for charity, served on a range of non-profit boards, led the largest Latino professional association in Philadelphia as President of ALPFA Philadelphia, and performed environmental sustainability consulting in South America. With time, I’ve learned how to balance between these endeavors, my career & family to make me happy.

What's your proudest achievement in your career?

Beyond any personal successes, I’m proudest of the impact I’ve had on the next generation. To draw an analogy, I won’t let my career be like a shooting star that streaks high across the sky, burning bright yet fading quickly. Instead my professional journey will to be akin to a ship with a deep hull. It may not move fast but brings behind it waves of support & change that shake the surroundings long after it passes. The strong support network that surrounds me is both affirming & empowering.

Beyond corporate D&I efforts, what will make true inclusivity happen?

I believe true inclusivity will only happen when there is recognition, knowledge sharing, appreciation, & respect shared by all. We have come a long way as a country & as humans through the abolition of slavery, Women’s Suffrage, the Civil Rights Movement, LGBTQ rights, immigration, etc. but we are not finished. There is still hate that is rooted in misconceptions & lack of experience mixed with lack of empathy. Positive change will come, but we must demand it happen now!
