The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia has announced that Michael Innocenzo will serve as its next board chair, succeeding the role currently held by Sue Jacobson.

A member of its board since 2018, he has made significant contributions to the Chamber’s mission, subsequently being appointed to its Executive Committee in 2019.

In a statement, Innocenzo noted that he is “honored” to have the opportunity to serve “our business community, and our city, in this capacity.”

A prominent business and community leader in the region, Innocenzo is the President & CEO of PECO, Pennsylvania’s largest electric and natural gas utility company.

He was named PECO’s top executive leader in 2018, after serving in a number of other roles throughout his tenure with the company, including Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Operations.

“Mike is a true civic leader who has already made an enormous impact on the economic growth of the Greater Philadelphia region. In addition, his commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion within the Chamber membership and greater business community will continue to be paramount during his tenure,” said Chamber President and CEO Chellie Cameron in a statement.

She added that she is “honored to have him serve as our next Chair.”

Throughout his career, Innocenzo has devoted himself to removing barriers and expanding access to opportunities for all community members. His latest board role will see him continue to make strides in that effort, and particularly for the business community.

“Local businesses have continued to rise to the challenges a post-pandemic environment presents for our city, employees, and communities. This is a pivotal moment to build a stronger business climate, promote inclusive economic growth, and accelerate the region’s economic competitiveness,” said Innocenzo. “Together, we can make a stronger, safer, cleaner, and more equitable future for our region a reality.”

His other board roles include the Philadelphia Free Library, the Philadelphia Police Athletic League (PAL), the Franklin Institute, the American Gas Association, and the Electric Power Research Institute. He is also a member of the Satell Institute, and has advisory roles with Drexel University and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

In addition to the announcement of Innocenzo as its new incoming board chair, the Chamber has also announced a number of new Executive Committee and Board members.

The new executive committee members include John Fry, President of Drexel University; Michael Heller, chair and CEO of Cozen O’Connor; Liz Magill, President of the University of Pennsylvania; Jordan Rambo, Office Managing Director for Accenture's Philadelphia Metro Region; and Angela Val, President and CEO of Visit Philadelphia, among several others.

New board of directors members include Donna Allie, founder, President and CEO of Team Clean; Teresa Lundy, founder and principal of TML Communications, Siah McCabe, senior strategy consultant for Thomas Jefferson University Hospital; and Tiffany Wilson, President and CEO of University City Science Center; among several others.

All new appointments are effective October 15, 2022.
