National Leader to speak at 2021 AL DÍA Women of Merit

Yvette Peña, an accomplished, award-winning marketer and community advocate, will be a featured speaker at the virtual event taking place March 31.

AL DÍA has amassed an impressive list of trailblazing and impactful women as a featured guests and speakers for the AL DÍA Women of Merit, and is excited to announce the newest.

Yvette Peña will be the featured speaker at the event. She joins a list of esteemed guests for the 2021 AL DIA Women of Merit that already includes Esther Aguilera, Carolina DiGiorgio, and Nina Vaca

Peña is the Vice President of Hispanic/Latino Audience Strategy at the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at AARP, and is an accomplished, award-winning marketer and community advocate with over 20 years experience specializing in multicultural initiatives.

She joined AARP in 2016 with the mission of making AARP a part of the Latino community, and serves as the national voice for AARP’s engagement with Latino communities through partnerships with multicultural organizations to drive AARP’s social impact and increase its brand awareness. 

In her role, she has also been able to use her innovative mind to leverage digital, social and mobile platforms to drive engagement with Hispanics aged 50-plus. She is also responsible for the design and strategic direction on all communication channels targeting Spanish dominant, as well as bilingual/bicultural audience segment. Peña serves as AARP's national voice on nationwide efforts, inclusive of Spanish language media channels, communications, media briefings and satellite media tours, and has also been the national Latina voice and face of AARP during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Prior to joining AARP, Peña was the first Director of Multicultural Marketing at Sports Authority, where she build and led the company’s U.S. Multicultural strategy in 2014. Three years prior, she became the first Director of Multicultural Marketing at Walgreens, where she was responsible for developing go-to market strategy and Shopper Marketing programs for Multicultural audiences. She’s also had roles in building the Latino markets at the Bravo Group and Sears. 

Peña has been a lifelong advocate for communities of colors and takes pride in giving back and providing ample opportunities to help provide meaningful growth within those communities. She has made it a priority to engage in public service, mentorship and diversity efforts in the community. She also serves on the Board of the Friends of the National Museum of the American Latino, and was elected as Vice Chair earlier this year. 

A native of New York, Peña is an Afro-Latina of Dominican heritage and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Baruch College in New York City. She currently resides in Washington, D.C. and Chicago with her husband.
