Sebastián Yatra debuts as an actor in Netflix series
Colombian singer Sebastián Yatra, who sings the Oscar-nominated song “Dos Oruguitas”, will play a Spanish gigolo role in a Netflix series.
"Once upon a time… but not anymore" tells the story of a couple who are forced to break up. But they will meet again in another life to break up the spell that 'punishes' their town: people don't fall in love.
The comedy and fantasy miniseries is produced by the Mexican Manolo Caro and premieres this Friday, March 11 in Netflix.
Besides the Colombian singer Sebastián Yatra, Nia Correia, Mónica Maranillo, Rossy de Palma, Huichi Chiu, Mariana Treviño, Daniela Vega and Itziar Castro joined the cast.
In the first role he plays on screen, the singer-songwriter portrays a Spanish gigolo. Also, he will perform a song, which has already been released.

“It's like an anti-fairy tale. It is a series that is quite crazy, like Manolo the director, and like me and the whole cast... People are going to laugh a lot. I am pretty sure," Yatra said to AP.
Before filming, Yatra had to work hard to change his Colombian accent to the Spanish one. In addition to this, he had to undergo exhaustive physical training; this is because there are scenes in this television series in which his body is almost completely exposed.
The Colombian is aware that efforts bear fruits. “The biggest challenge for me was standing next to actors and actresses from all over the world and doing it up to par. They are experiences that contribute and improve a professional's career ,” he said.
This year started in the best way for Yatra, who performs “Dos oruguitas” in the animated film “Encanto”, which earned a nomination in the best song category at upcoming Oscars. This is not the unique nomination for this film directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, because it will also compete to win the statuettes in best soundtrack and best animated feature film categories.
The singer of "Ideal Girl" and "Red Heels" hits celebrates his debut on small screen while continuing his musical tour that will take him this year to Mexico, Spain, various countries in South America, the United States and Canada.
