The heartbreaking final season of 'This Is Us'
The series “This is Us” will air its finale episode on May 24. Some actors are already showing gratitude to the public on social media.
The television series This Is Us, which airs every Tuesday on NBC, is on the cusp of its end. Its last episode will be broadcast on May 24 in the United States and in Spain on July 24.
After six years on screen, the television series about the life and love story of the Pearson family and the unexpected adventures included in the plot come to an end.
The actors, who have been part of the family drama created by Dan Fogelman, posted photos and videos on social media to express their nostalgia, emotion, and gratitude to fans.
One of them is the Latino actor Jon Huertas, who starred in the series playing the role of Miguel, husband, caretaker and best friend of Rebecca (played by Mandy Moore).
“It’s been my absolute honor to be part of the Pearson journey with you… and while we may have gotten off on the wrong foot, now that you know the full picture, can we finally be Team Miguel??” he wrote on a post on Instagram referring to episode 15 of season 6, which will not be mentioned here to avoid spoilers.

With an American mother and a Puerto Rican father, Huertas has vindicated his origins and culture throughout the seasons of This Is Us. He has also been involved in writing the script thanks to the trust and openness of the producers and writers.
"They allowed me to come into the writers' room early on to talk about my story — some of the things that have affected me in life and how we’ve been able to apply that to Miguel over the years," he said. "And how we can apply it to this Miguel-centric episode. You see a lot of me, as a person, in there. I'm Puerto Rican. Our director is Puerto Rican. Our food stylist on set is Puerto Rican. The episode writer, director, and I got Puerto Rican food one day for the whole crew. Everybody who’s part of Miguel’s family, they're all Puerto Rican actors. They’re very much like my family," the 52-year-old actor told NBC Insider in an interview.
Faced with the imminent end of the series, part of the cast thought about extending the legacy of This Is Us beyond the screen. That's how Huertas thought of fostering an initiative to support emerging artists in the Latino community.
“I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if we as a cast could give a leg up to the next Latinx writer? Someone who can create compelling stories for Latinx characters,” Huertas explained to Deadline about creating a scholarship program for Latinos who dream of a career in Hollywood. The fund will be called Somos Nosotros.
