A Mexican symbol turned television success
The Netflix series "Monarca", produced by the Mexican Billy Rovzar, has brought to the small screen the story of a family and its relationship with tequila.
“Monarca” series follows in the footsteps of the powerful Carranzas, a dynasty of tequila entrepreneurs who will have to face numerous difficulties.
The drama, which combines intrigue and romance, aired on Netflix and is one of the first television productions focusing on the quintessential Mexican drink: tequila.
“After 20 years, Ana María returns to Mexico and fights to control the family tequila empire, which is in danger of succumbing to corruption and secrets,” the synopsis of the fictional production says.
In an interview with the Spanish actress and model Mar Saura, the producer of "Monarca", the Mexican Billy Rovzar reflected on the success of the series, which premiered in 2019 but which is still trending in the world of Spanish-speaking entertainment. .
“It is one of our most incredible projects. I think it was very cool to tell the story of a Mexican family and tequila, something that had not been done in the format in which we did it," said Rovzar about the production created by Mexican Diego Gutiérrez and that had two seasons on the streaming platform.

In the interview, Billy Rovzar analyzed the behind-the-scenes work, very specifically in production. “As a producer you cannot say ‘this is my project or I will die with this’. It's like when you go to the sea and you think 'I'm going for that gigantic sea monster', but on the way you throw the fishing rod in the water, ”he pointed out.
He emphasizes that the work of these professionals requires constant updating and learning. “I believe a lot in being prepared, in reading a lot. I believe very much in always being drenched in new tools so that when the opportunity comes you can call luck to your aid, ”he added.
