Sasha Sokol decided to break her silence on Mexican producer Luis de Llano after he stated in an interview that he and Sokol were “in a relationship" for around six months when the actress was 17. 

On Twitter, the Mexican actress denied de Llano and revealed having been abused by him when she was only 14, and he was 39. The situation lasted four years, according to Sokol. 

“Luis de Ya no: As long as women in my situation do not dare to speak the truth, there will continue to be men like Luis de Llano. From the age of 14, I wanted to believe that I was responsible for what happened. Today I understand that my only responsibility was to remain silent. Two days ago, Luis made false statements about our relationship. He abused me then and abuses me today by manipulating the truth, minimizing to exempt him from responsibility in the facts,” said the actress. 

“I was in Vaselina with Timbiriche and I was clearly a girl. My family found out and they went crazy. Luis was almost three times my age. He was a year older than my dad and he was the same age as my mom,” she added. During Timbiriche, the Mexican pop musical group made up of teenagers, Sokol also met Spanish singer Miguel Bosé.

The woman, who is 51 years old now, indicated that this mischaracterized relationship earned her estrangement of her mother's partner, whom she saw as a father.

“Fernando unadopted me. That was the first big loss of my life,” she said.

Her mother made many efforts to get Sokol away from de Llano, however both continued to see each other. Finally, the actress broke down and preferred to be honest with her mother.

“When I turned 17, I told my mom that I could keep lying to her, or she could forgive me. The poor thing had no choice but to open up, but she never felt comfortable and she was happy when, a short time later, I broke up with him," she said.

Sokol said that ending the relationship was not easy for her considering the power, contacts and influence that de Llano had and still has in the entertainment industry.

"I was very afraid of how separation would affect my career at the time,” Sokol added. 

The singer and actress broke the silence after 33 years because she felt ashamed all this time.

“For decades I wanted to believe that not mentioning it would make it go away. She was wrong. I assume the part that should correspond to me, but I can no longer — nor should I — keep silent. Shame and fear should never be greater than the truth,” she said.

She decided to share her story to "empower other women to speak up if they live in an abusive situation."
