Carlos Vives pays tribute to Shakira with his new song 'Currambera'
The new song is a tribute to Shakira and all the women of Barranquilla.
On Wednesday, Feb. 2, Carlos Vives surprised Shakira with a beautiful birthday gift in the form of a new song, "Currambera," where the artist celebrates her 45 years of life.
"We walked the streets where you walked.... We walk through your memories and evoke your songs, Shak on your birthday we celebrate with music. On February 2nd from Barranquilla... Currambera for the world," wrote Vives in the official release of the song.
The music video for "Currambera" was filmed on Dec. 18 at the Sociedad Portuaria Regional de Barranquilla, a place chosen by Vives to show the greatness of the city and all the legends that are woven around the nearby Magdalena River.

"Currambera, que luces tu pollera, cumbiambera, que mueves tus caderas," is heard in one of the verses of this song that has a soft rhythm, fused with pop and reggaeton.
The video also featured several women who were queens of the Carnival of Barranquilla in its different versions such as: Daniella Donado, queen of Carnival 2007; Marcela García Caballero, queen of Carnival 2016; Valeria Abuchaibe, queen of Carnival 2018; Isabella Chams Vega, queen of Carnival 2020 and Valeria Charris Salcedo, current queen of Carnival 2022.
The birthday girl responded toVives' post and wrote: "I'm dying of love," adding a heart emoji.
